wear blue Welcomes LTG (Ret) Donna W Martin to Our Board of Directors

wear blue: run to remember is honored to welcome Lieutenant General (Ret) Donna W Martin to our Board of Directors.

LTG Martin brings a lifetime of service, leadership, and integrity to wear blue - values that closely mirror our mission to create a living memorial honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s fallen while supporting veterans, military families, and survivors through active remembrance and community.

LTG Martin served as the 67th Inspector General of the United States Army, assuming the role in September 2021. A native of Yorktown, Virginia, she was commissioned into the Military Police Corps in 1988 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University. She later earned a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Across more than three decades of distinguished service, LTG Martin held senior leadership roles at every level of the Army. Her career includes serving as the Provost Marshal General of the U.S. Army and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, where she acted as the Army’s principal advisor on law enforcement, criminal investigations, security, and force protection. She also commanded the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood, and served in key staff and command roles from battalion through Combatant Command.

Beyond her remarkable professional career, LTG Martin’s connection to wear blue is deeply personal and grounded in community. She has participated directly in the Williamsburg Community Run, standing shoulder to shoulder with veterans, families, and supporters in a Circle of Remembrance embodying the very heart of wear blue’s mission through presence, movement, and shared remembrance.

In her words, LTG Martin shared why wear blue resonates so strongly with her:

“Serving as a board member for wear blue: run to remember is a meaningful opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s military through active remembrance and purposeful action. The organization’s mission - to create a living memorial for fallen service members while supporting veterans, military families, and survivors - deeply resonates with my values of community, wellness, respect, grit, and excellence. As a board member, I am committed to fostering connection and healing, ensuring that every family and veteran feels remembered and supported.”

She continued:

“I am inspired by wear blue’s inclusive approach, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds to unite in remembrance and resilience. My professional experience and personal dedication to service equip me to contribute strategic leadership, compassionate advocacy, and a drive to amplify the organization’s impact. I am eager to help guide wear blue’s growth, champion its programs, and uphold its vision: for the fallen, for the fighting, and for the families.”

LTG Martin’s leadership, lived commitment to service, and belief in the power of community strengthen wear blue at a pivotal time as we continue to expand our impact nationwide. We are grateful for her willingness to serve and lead, and we are proud to welcome her into the wear blue family.

Together, we move forward remembering, honoring, and supporting those who serve and those who carry their legacy.
